With all this talk about “Who the best player in the world is,” football supporters, analysts, and even professional players continue to debate. Earlier this week Chelsea’s Joe Cole voiced his opinion claiming “Messi showed in the semi-final that he is the top man.” I think Joe is just a little jealous. (Read More…)
“I’ve been expecting it,” Ferguson said. “I don’t think it’s about last Saturday, I think it’s about next Wednesday and maybe even next season.” This was in response to Avram Grant’s remarks claiming referees in the Premier League favor Manchester United. “In England there are very good referees, but there are some, a few that you can influence” Grant said. It’s no secret United have been searching for Gary Neville’s long-term replacement. United had been linked with Porto right back, Bosingwa, up until Chelsea sealed a £16.2million deal earlier this week. Having sealed Bosingwa, its only obvious Chelsea have dropped out of the race for Sevilla right-back Daniel Alves.
Which only leaves Manchester United and Barcelona in the running for the Brazilian.
It was August of last year that Chelsea was rejected by Sevilla not once, not twice, but three times to acquire Alves. Daniel Alves was furious Sevilla would not release him and had rejected Chelsea’s offers because Alves had stated he wanted to play for a “European Giant”
I think the very offensive right-back would be a wonderful addition to the Red Devils. He will be very expensive but he could be worth every penny. If United want a replacement for Gary Neville There is no one better ,at this time, then Daniel Alves.
For as arrogant as Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon is, he admits signing Cristiano Ronaldo would be “almost impossible” even after reports in Spain confirmed a £100million bid! Calderon argues “We are talking about the best player in the world, who has won consecutive Premier League titles and could have won the Champions League as well by next week. If he is looking for the next challenge, then it can only come by leaving England and there could be no club better to go to after leaving Old Trafford than Real Madrid.”
Ronaldo is well aware of the price tag to obtain his services, and even with such an astronomical number Ronaldo told MUTV “I’m at the right club, playing with the right players and I learn things all the time,”
Unlike others in the Premier League, Sir Alex has not revealed any concrete summer transfers. We have already seen Chelsea secure a deal with Bosingwa. Tottenham have made contact with Samuel Eto’o of Barcelona. The Cameroonian striker said “If next year we continue like that, I will leave”. Manchester City are on the verge of signing Mexican international, Giovani dos Santos. Who has fallen out of favor at the Camp Nou. And The Emirates sounds very tempting to French Young Player of the Year, Hatem Ben Arfa, who revealed The Gunners have expressed interest and contacted him.
Sir Alex has only gone as far as saying “Along with Carlos Tevez and Wayne Rooney, we may need experience in one forward position, somebody to take over from Ryan Giggs eventually.” A few of the names being tossed around are: Michael Owen, Dimitar Berbatov, and Dean Ashton.
Now that Manchester United has clinched the title, and United chief executive David Gill has promised Sir Alex Ferguson the funds necessary to retain the Premier League title next year, its time for Sir Alex to dabble in the transfer market for the upcoming season. Sir Alex certainly knows what he’s doing, so I don’t expect him to sign just any high profile players (like Chelsea or Real Madrid), but instead, players that will bond with the core of the team at Old Trafford. Sir Alex accomplished this last year with signings like Owen Hargreaves, Nani, Anderson, and Tevez. All of which were regulars on the pitch and contributed immensely to the success of Manchester United this season. (Read More…)
Contrary to popular belief both Vidic and Rooney started the match. Also in the starting line up Tevez would join Rooney up top. Park, Carrick, Scholes, and Ronaldo would play across the middle in the more traditional 4-4-2. Evra, Ferdinand, Vidic, and Brown in the back line with Van der Sar in goal. (Read More…)
Last game of the season. 13th place Wigan will host 1st place United Sunday May 11th. United are in the Champions League Final and are coming from a 4-1 thrashing of West Ham. United is on a great run, and they will gain an unbelievable amount of momentum for the Champions League Final by clinching the Premier League Title on Sunday.
The good news is Cristiano looks like he is back in form, and Vidic is set to return.
But not all is well, Nani is suspended and Rooney is not 100% but no need to panic United are 2-0-0 since losing Rooney to a hip injury.
Wayne Rooney will be fit for the Champions League Final on May 21st , but will not start for United on Sunday when they play their last match of the season! At best, Rooney will be on the bench
This is what Sir Alex had to say “You have to make the right decision, no matter what game it is or what squad you’ve got. You can’t pick players if they’re not fit and that’s a key issue. That’s why we have a medical department, that’s why we have five physiotherapists at this club. That’s why we place a lot of importance on our medical staff. They do their job properly and the players won’t play unless they’re 100 per cent.”
NermanjaVidic, on the other hand, looks fit and could very well start on Sunday. “I’m very hopeful Vidic will be fit for Sunday,” added Sir Alex. “Obviously the next two training sessions [Friday and Saturday] are very important for him. But he’s much, much better, clear medically, so hopefully I can get him for Sunday.
Tune in Sunday May 11th at 17:00 BST for the Player of the Year Awards on MUTV or MUTV online live from Old Trafford.
