In a year when Manchester United was touted to win the treble (Premiership, Champions League, FA Cup), a “single” doesn’t seem like enough.
After much speculation and talk, the official Manchester United website is reporting today that United and FC Bayern Munich have finally agreed on a deal for Owen Hargreaves that will have him in Manchester the first part of July.
The Manchester United Website is reporting the club has signed Portugese winger Nani.
The Manchester United website is reporting the signing of Brazilian midfielder Anderson.
Left back Gabriel Heinze is poised to make a move from Manchester United to Real Madrid in Spain. It is reported that the fullback flew to Spain on Saturday to discuss the potential move with the Real chiefs.
Real is interested in Heinze to replace Roberto Carlos and have expressed their confidence in winning any potential bidding war.
Heinze said: “I am convinced that if a good offer arrives then Manchester United will let me go.”
Italian super-power Juventus has also expressed interest.
The Real Madrid offer is reported to be in the £5million range.
It has been reported that Manchester United are offering Tottenham £27.5m for the Bulgarian striker, Dimitar Berbatov.
Tottenham stand to make a substantial profit after signing Berbatov for £10.9m from Bayern Leverkusen last summer. This, in addition to gaining Louis Saha in the deal, could make the offer more than they can refuse. (approximately £39m in value)
Berbatov scored 24 goals in all competitions in his first season in English football.
This would double Spurs previous “high water mark” of £18.5m for a player (Michael Carrick) — also to Manchester United.
The entire FA Cup Final was full of surprises. We should have expected something different from this game, being a final, and it certainly delivered on that. Unfortunately, the surprise was the way in which the game was played. The pace of the game was slow, the refereeing was loose (some might argue bad), the scoring opportunities were few and far between, and aside from a few stellar plays from both sides, there wasn’t really much for fans in either camp to be excited about.
Ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup Final versus Chelsea, I thought it might be fun to create a lineup of my own. For your review:
This rumor excites me! It is being reported that Newcastle United have a new competitor in the race to sign Middlesbrough striker Mark Viduka. Viduka’s contact expires next month, and thus far ‘boro have not been able ink a new deal with the Australian national. It is said the current offer is in the £40,000 per week range!
Manchester has a lot to offer Viduka, including the European football he desires. The sticking point will be playing time - and rightfully so. With youngsters Rossi and Eagles trying to push their way into the starting lineup, and the likes of Rooney, Saha, Smith, Solksjaer, et al, already playing forward, will Viduka really get enough playing time to entice him to come to Manu?
On the flip side, Newcastle are promising to use Viduka as a core member of the team and build around him.
I suppose it really boils down to what it is Viduka wants… Playing time? Or Silverware?
After being ruled out of the FA Cup final with Chelsea (story), Gary Neville immediately underwent surgery to repair the ligament damage in his right ankle.
