Monday night, Cristiano Ronaldo was not given the FIFA World World Player of the Year award. He was beaten out by Brazilian Kaka, and Argentinian Lionel Messi, finishing third in the voting.

Humble in defeat, Cristiano said “I was so pleased when I got nominated,” he said. “The first thing I did was tell the people closest to me. I called my mother and told her and then my brother and my sister. It’s a real honour for me to be considered one of the three best players in the world.”

Based on his form of last season, and his strong play in this season I believe Ronaldo should have won hands down. If not him, then Messi, but Kaka certainly hasn’t put up the same numbers.
