Manchester United centre-back Jonny Evans has reportedly denied recent allegations of rape.
The Northern Irish international has been accused by a female party-goer of raping her at an exclusive United Christmas party at the prestigious Great John Street hotel.
Following the player’s 16-hour police stations tay and his being freed on bail, The Sun claims that the 19-year-old has protested his innocence to a confidant.
The newspaper claimed that a friend of the player remarked: “Jonny is genuinely bemused and astonished by the events of the last 48 hours. He is determined to clear his name as quickly as possible.”
Evans flew home from the continent to consult police after hearing of the allegations, and he has since been bailed until the 23rd of February next year.
