I would really love to hear from everyone on this one!

What was going through your head when Ronaldo missed his PK?

Did you consider (even if only for a split-second) selling him to Real Madrid after all?
or would you have stuck by his side?
How many were certain he was going to score his PK?
How many of you knew he was going to miss?
Did you think it was all over?

Did you consider (even if only for a split-second) selling him to Real Madrid after all? Nah, not a chance…
or would you have stuck by his side? To the end.
How many were certain he was going to score his PK? I thought that it was money in the bank.
Did you think it was all over? Yeah, I though ManU was toast

As the game went into PKs, my sons got home from school… They were so excited - basically the entire 120 minutes meant nothing now, and they would get to see the finale of the Final.

My youngest, who also plays midfield, asked me when Ronaldo (his hero) would shoot. Thinking back to the World Cup, I told him he’d probably go last. My older son, a defender, said “Ronaldo is going to miss anyway.”

Sacrilege! (and his mom, a HUGE fan - for obvious reasons: his “talent” - blasted him!)

Then I thought about it a few seconds and realized he was probably right. I had a BAD feeling about this. Ronny would blow it at the end and the hated Blues would win. Dammit!

(boom-boom) two goals

(boom-boom) two goals - still tied

Hey, it’s Ronaldo going third! My younger son beams with admiration. My older son “He’s going to miss, I know it”. My wife throws another evil look at our oldest boy. I feel fear in the pit of my stomach. He *is* going to miss and it’s going to taint an otherwise good performance. I thought Ronaldo would finally silence the critics with this game… I had to leave the room as he got the ball and began to place it. *overwhelming dread* But I jump back into the room…

(miss - boom) saved, and they score

Older son, “OMG, we lost!” A chorus of oohs, awwwws, and complaints from everyone.

Ronaldo’s big chance to shut everyone up goes by the wayside and I start the mourning process. We’ve lost.

(boom - mini boom) Van der Sar ALMOST saved the match, but it trickles in.

More complaining, disbelief, and sadness…

(boom - miss) OMG!! OMG!! OMG!! OMG!! Did he really miss??? OMG He did! Holy Crap, we’re saved!

Slight hope starts to creep in, but now it’s Anderson. He’s just a baby! Can he really make this? Is the stage too big for him? Will he choke? Did Sir Alex make a mistake by putting him on the pitch at the end? I have to leave the room again…

(boom) WAAAAAHOOOOOO!!

(boom) Ugh… my heart can’t take this…

Damn Gigsy is up. He’ll probably hit it like an old lady. *nail biting*

(boom) Holy crap, he made it! YES!

“Ahh… It’s Anelka guys… he’s really good, he won’t miss so we’ll have another round…”

(miss) A HUGE save! *chills* *screaming* *jumping up and down* *utter disbelief that we won*

That’s how it went down at my house. Never a doubt about whether Ronaldo should stay though.

One thing… I’ve cursed and hated on John Terry for years. When he missed I LAUGHED MY ASS off. Jeered him. Felt satisfaction it was him that missed - the only person I would have laughed harder at would be Drogba, but he took himself out of contention for my loathing. ;) But as I continued to watch the awards ceremony and they kept showing him crying - not just sobbing, but outright hysterical crying - my Grinch heart began to soften. I began to actually feel bad for the guy. What a huge weight had just been placed on his shoulders. He’ll be forever known as the guy that lost the Champions League Final. Ronaldo’s failure pales in comparison now (thankfully). Crazy… me sympathizing with Terry… who would have thought that possible…

once he missed it all i could think was “WHAT AN IDIOT!” a beautiful idiot, but still an idiot nontheless. disappoinment. Even though they still pulled through and won (thank god!) i still think Ronaldo should have gone to go stand in a corne, head down to think about his mistake.

We came out on top in the end! it’s what matters!! YAY FOR UNITED!!
