Sir Alex responded to Calderon’s attacks earlier today. If you have followed my blog, you would have read about the recent feud between Sir Alex and Ramon Calderon of Real Madrid

Well Sir Alex didn’t take long to respond and here is what the Scot had to say

“Calderon has a few strange things to say every week,” smiled the United boss.
“There is a lot of hot air comes out of that man.”

“I am not getting involved but the nub of it is he is very disappointed he did not get Ronaldo.”
“I am delighted to say he is still here and I will keep repeating that.”

I thought it was very clever of Sir Alex, hit them where it hurts, because its true at the end of the day we have Ronaldo.

And it’s not about “Ronaldo” it could have been about any player, the point I think Sir Alex was trying to make was that he [Sir Alex] had his way.

Earlier this week in the same interview that saw Sir Alex Ferguson criticize FIFA president, Sepp Blatter, about Blatter’s comments on Cristiano Ronaldo’s situation being compared to that of a slave.

Sir Alex revealed his theory as to why Real Madrid bought Gabriel Heinze, Sir Alex claimed  “When we sold Gabriel Heinze to Real Madrid we knew it was going to happen, because Ronaldo is very close to Heinze,”

“I knew what they were doing. I don’t believe they were interested in Heinze - good player though he is. The endgame was to get Ronaldo.”

“What made it really obscene was that Madrid, as General Franco’s club, had a history of being able to get whatever they wanted, before democracy came to Spain.”

In an attempt to “ignore” Sir Alex, the Spaniard added more fuel to the fire.

“I’m not going to waste any time answering him: I admire his record, but he is getting old,”  Calderon said.

He’s getting old? Look who’s talking!

Sir Alex has named Aston Villa as the only club capable of breaking into the top four this season.

“I do not see anyone breaking in, other than Aston Villa,” said Ferguson
.
“It is possible they might do it - but no-one else.”

The United boss went on to explain his disappointment in the draw against Everton

“The first half was magnificent but the second was disappointing,” said Sir Alex
“I was ready for more of the same. I felt we were going to add to our goal tally, which could be important at the end of the season, but we didn’t capitalise.”

Ending on a good note, Sir Alex praised Dimitar Berbatov’s gift to Ronaldo for United’s second goal against West Ham

“Dimitar’s play for the second goal was absolutely magnificent,” said Ferguson. “You would pay a lot of money to watch that.
“He has such fantastic control and balance. It truly was marvellous

Cristiano Ronaldos two first-half goals were enough to down Zola’s West Ham, dropping them to the bottom half of the English Premier League table.

United used this match to rest Van der Sar and give Kuszczak a spot in the starting eleven. South Americans Rafael Da Silva, Anderson, and Carlos Tevez were also included in the starting eleven. While Nani and Ronaldo secured the wings.

It only took 14 minutes for Ronaldo to sink his third goal of the season, as Nani served a brilliant ball from the left side. Ronaldo simply redirected it past the Hammers goalkeeper, Robert Green.

The 23-year-old FIFPro player of the year did it again on the half-hour mark, but it was the £30 million Bulgarian who made that goal. Berbatov chased a ball to the goal-line and with a dazzling 360 spin Berbatov lost his defender just inside the eighteen before rolling the ball back for Ronaldo at the top of the six. Only thing missing on that gift was a bow.

A much quieter second half saw Rooney and Carrick on for Nani and Fletcher. And although there were no goals in the second half United continued to dominate. With ten minutes remaining Sir Alex brought on Gary Neville for the young Rafael da Silva.

United, who still have a game in hand, are currently sixth in the Premier League but with United having found their form its only a matter of time before they are back on top of the table.

United has been great at home recently, scoring plenty of goals. 12 in the last 5 home game matches while only conceding 1.

Still no Hargreaves or Scholes in the midfield, but we still have Anderson, Fletcher and of course Giggs. Sir Alex also praised Fletcher prior to the match against West Ham. Ferguson claimed Fletcher is currently the best player at United. “He is outstanding in big games, when he always does such a great job.” “He has developed his game and taken it to a new level.”

Given Rooney’s current form, United should have no problem scoring today. I feel Tevez should be given a start, while Anderson covers for Scholes and Giggs plays his natural left wing position.

The Defense will work as long as Ferdinand and Vidic are fit. The right and left back positions seem have more depth.

I predict at least 3-0

“I think Sepp Blatter is in danger, or has reached a point where he is being mocked within the game,” Ferguson said in an interview with GQ Magazine.

“Whether he’s getting too old, I don’t know. But these things happen to people in power. Look at some of the despots in Africa. From a position of great power, he has uttered so many ridiculous statements that he is in danger of seriously damaging his credibility.

Sir Alex obviously talking about Blatter’s comments on Ronaldo’s summer saga, when he compared Ronaldo’s situation to that of a slave

“When he came out with that stuff it created a furore and rightly so, the year after the commemoration of the 200th anniversary of slavery.”

I completely agree with Sir Alex. Unfortunately Blatter was recently “re-elected” for another four years on May 31 2007. Even though only 66 of 207 FIFA members nominated him, reinforcing the claims of corruption surrounding the current FIFA president.

Nemanja Vidic worried that United would not retain the Premier League title due to United’s run of bad luck in the opening weeks. A tough fixture list mixed with some injuries saw United take only five points from the first four games.

“We didn’t start well in the first few games and when you don’t have a good start you worry about what might happen,” Vidic told the Mirror. “You begin to think, ‘If we lose one more game we could be out of the Premier League’.

“It’s something at the back of your mind and you feel the pressure. When you have that you get worried about what you might do in a game.”

“But when you start to win, that brings the confidence back and when you are winning and scoring goals, like we are now, the confidence starts to flow.

“We’ve started to look like a team again, compact and with the right shape.

“I feel we’ve definitely got more now than last season. I believe we can be better but we can only show that on the pitch. Then you will see how much we improve. And at the end of the season, we can say we did.”

How ridiculous is this? The FA began to investigate Rooney for kissing his Manchester United Badge this weekend.

After becoming increasingly frustrated during Uniteds disappointing draw to Everton. Rooney was substituted after being booked for committing a foul on Mikel Arteta. As Rooney was walking off the field he turned to the fans and kissed his United badge, a move which could be regarded as inflammatory at his former club, Everton.

Although the FA have confirmed they will not be investigating this further, I think its completely ridiculous and a waste of time. He was showing devotion to his club!

Manchester United winger has been crowned FIFPro World Footballer of the Year. Cristiano Ronaldo ended Brazil’s dominance over this award and is expected to do so with many of the others.

Cristiano Ronaldo is also expected to take Balon D’Or and the FIFA World Player of the Year award. Lionel Messi is considered to be Ronaldos main rival for the two prestiges awards.

But Ronaldo will win both. Its simple, Ronaldo brought home silverware for his team. Ronaldo helped United win the Premier League and the Champions League, while Messi’s Barcelona slipped to third in the closing weeks of the 07/08 La Liga season

Real Madrid have once again started with their class-less pursuit of the worlds top talent. This time its not Cristiano Ronaldo, it’s 24-year-old Carlitos Tevez!

Considering Real’s reputation, you know United did not receive a fax stating Real’s interest in Tevez. Instead in typical Real fashion, they used fellow Argentine, Gonzalo Higuain, to get the ball rolling. (Read More…)
