United edged out relegation contenders Blackburn on Saturday with goals by  Rooney and Ronaldo, while Manchester City drew Liverpool at Anfield and inadvertently helped United climb 7 points ahead of the competition. Giggs signs extension

Giggs proved his worth to United last week against West Ham and now has been rewarded with a one-year contract extension that will keep the 35-year-old at Old Trafford until June 2010. Ryan Giggs rolled back the years to send Manchester United top of the Premier League, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win at West Ham.
