An unfortunate result for a team that dominated the entire match. Mourinho fielded an inexperienced defense and it showed, United took it to Inter in the first half with plenty of opportunities because of weak defending mainly by Rivas.

United edged out relegation contenders Blackburn on Saturday with goals by Rooney and Ronaldo, while Manchester City drew Liverpool at Anfield and inadvertently helped United climb 7 points ahead of the competition.
Now that Manchester United have a comfortable lead in the EPL, United can concentrate on their Champions League match against Italian league leaders Internazionale.

It is no secret that Ryan Giggs is getting old. We are roughly the same age, and heaven knows I am feeling the age creep up on me! At the end of last season I called for Ryan to retire (see Giggsy: We Love you, Now Go Away).

Giggs proved his worth to United last week against West Ham and now has been rewarded with a one-year contract extension that will keep the 35-year-old at Old Trafford until June 2010.
Giggs told ManUtd.com he is “delighted to be offered a new contract”, adding: “I feel fit and I’m enjoying my football more than ever.

Ryan Giggs rolled back the years to send Manchester United top of the Premier League, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win at West Ham.
The 35-year-old struck just after the hour mark with a piece of brilliance, cutting inside from the left flank, beating two men and finishing low past Robert Green.
