Cristiano Ronaldo has rubbished claims he has signed a pre-contract with Real Madrid, saying he wants to stay at Manchester United.

Fresh reports emerged from Spain on Tuesday claiming the Portugal winger will join Real in the summer after the Liga champions failed to sign him last year.

But Ronaldo’s priority is to continue his success at Old Trafford.

“I know it will be hard but I want to achieve even more things with these great players we have at United,” he said.

“We can dominate. Manchester has a lot of young players – myself included – so the future for the club looks good. I want to be here, to be a part of the success that I believe lies ahead.

“For me, it’s great to be a part of this fantastic club and my motivation is to win more trophies.

“I’m still very ambitious. I want to carry on and repeat the success I’ve already had.”

On Tuesday, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said Ronaldo had an obligation to stay at the club.

“We are all proud of Cristiano achieving the status he has,” Ferguson said of the FIFA World Player of the Year. “But it is a two-way street.

“The player must have the personal ambition, the desire and drive to succeed.

“But he also owes a lot to Manchester United for nurturing and encouraging him in the proper way at the right times.”
