“UEFA will not open any disciplinary proceedings against Wayne Rooney,” a spokesman for the organization confirmed.

Risgard complained that the England forward deliberately planted a foot on his chest during the game, which saw Aalborg qualify for the last 32 of the UEFA Cup.
Television replays hinted that Rooney would face disciplinary action, as his foot clearly moved towards the Dane who then recoiled in pain.

Risgard said afterwards that Rooney had apologized to him and that he did not think he should be banned.
A ban would have been a huge blow to United, who were already through to the last 16 of the Champions League before the match and would have been without Rooney for both legs of that tie and the first leg of the quarter finals, should they quality.

Rooney’s team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo also escaped punishment by the FA for an incident involving Tottenham defender Michael Dawson.
