Manchester United have signed 21-year-old striker Mame Biram Diouf from Norwegian club Molde.
The player, originally from Senegal, will join the English champions in January, pending a medical, and remain in Norway until then.
“Mame Biram Diouf will go through medical checks at Manchester United next week and will join the club in January,” Molde stated.
United manager Alex Ferguson stated recently he had would not make any further signings during the summer transfer window following the arrival of Michael Owen, Gabriel Obertan and Antonio Valencia.
The club are also tracking Gremio midfielder Douglas Costa. However, they have been put off bidding for the Brazilian 18-year-old by the asking price of £20 million, and Ferguson, speaking at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur, stated that Diouf would be the club’s final signing.
He said: “We’ve been looking at him for two years.
“We weren’t intending on signing anyone else after last week – we feel we have a full squad – but the situation accelerated to a point where other clubs started to make bids, so we had to decide whether we acted or didn’t act.
“We decided to act and he’ll be the last person we sign.”
