After all the injuries suffered in the week before the game against Wigan and after the injuries during the Wigan game; Sir Alex Ferguson is saying that the injuries are not that bad. In the Wigan match he lost Nemanja Vidic, John O’Shea and Louis Saha through injury.

Saha was initially put down as a substitute, but was removed for the sub list after he injured his knee in the warm-up prior to the match.

Anderson had to replace Vidic in the 22cnd minute after Vidic received knocks against the head in two separate incidents, whilst O’Shea got a dead leg after only eight minutes in the center field.

The injury list makes for impressive reading with the list now being so long that Sir Alex Ferguson can field a whole team from the injury list. The Champions league kicks off for United on the 23rd of October and by then United should have most of the guys fit enough to play.

But a sixth consecutive league victory came at a price, as Nemanja Vidic, John O’Shea and Louis Saha joined the growing number of the club’s walking wounded – which now numbers 12.

Sir Alex Ferguson said that the increasing injury list was a blow, but he is still happy that the depth and quality of his squad will be good enough to cope with the problems.

“Vidic has been taken to hospital with concussion so we’ll give him all the tests. John O’Shea suffered a dead leg but he should be okay in a couple of weeks and Louis felt his knee in the warm-up so we couldn’t take a risk with him.

“The injuries upset our rhythm so it’s great credit to the players who came in like Danny Simpson, Anderson and Gerard Pique were absolutely outstanding.”

“That’s the benefit of having a good squad and we certainly have that as you saw with the ones who came in today. I’m very pleased.”

The three fresh casualties join 60 million pounds worth of talent, including Gary Neville, Edwin van der Sar, Owen Hargreaves, Michael Carrick, Darren Fletcher, Mikael Silvester, Park Ji-sung, Wes Brown and Ben Foster, on the sidelines.

Ferguson welcomed the two-week international break which gives United valuable breathing space before they face six games in 21 days after returning to Premier League action at Aston Villa on October 20.
