It was a match of two halves. After the first half I told myself “Manchester United just cannot get away from their goal scoring woes” Manchester United just did not use the wingers and keep on trying to pass down the center and Tevez just never seemed capable of beating anyone down the middle. What must have concerned Sir Alex Ferguson was all the injuries and so early in the game.

I was most impressed with Vidic’s willingness to carry on after his minor concussion as he clearly wanted to carry and only after consultation with the team doctor that Sir Alex Ferguson decided to take him off. It was however Tevez that scored the first goal, but only in the 57th minute.

It was also very pleasing to see that Rooney is up to speed again. He ran past Wigan defenders with ease and added the most value down the left side when he passed inside for what became one of the two goals scored by Ronaldo.

Wigan hardly made things easy for Manchester United because they played a 4-5-1 defense. The result was huge possession for United, which they comfortably enjoyed.

So it was a frustrating first half filled with injuries to United, but equally frustrating was the yellow card against Rooney and the referee, Mike Riley, ignored penalty appeals for a clumsy tackle on Ronaldo by Michael Brown.

The fist goal came in the 54th minute after a four man move giving Tevez his second goal for United. Rooney flicking the ball to Anderson, who also played brilliantly the whole game. Anderson timed a pass to perfection that found Tevez who kept Kevin Kilbane off netting the ball from 12 yards.

After only five minutes it was Ronaldo that scored the second goal when he headed the ball form 2 yards after Kirkland defended a shot taken by Ryan Giggs.

The third goal was a clinically executed move with Rooney running down the left wing to cross the ball that found Ronaldo who made the net in the 76th minute.

The third goal fell to Rooney, a well deserved goal in the 82cnd minute to make the score 4-0 to United.

The match overall was poor in the first half, but after the first goal by Tevez everything just gelled nicely for the forwards to give United a win that places them on the top of the log.
