International commitments are keeping the Serbian International out of Manchester United’s trip to Bolton Wanderers this coming Sunday.
Vidic, the centre back for Serbia is away against Kazakhstan for Serbia for the Euro 2008 qualifier this weekend. The game had to be rescheduled because of bad weather in Belgrade. It was snowing so hard that UEFA had to postpone the match to this Sunday, clashing with the premiership game against Bolton.
Serbia is playing their next game against Poland on Wednesday and the result will be meaningless should the game end in a draw. Shoudl Serbia lose or should (heaven forbid) Portugal beat Finland on the same night, then Vidic will see his international side out of the Euro 2008 competition.
I suppose that Alex Ferguson is hoping that this is the case so that he can have his trusty defender back at United. I must say that Vidic has impressed all with his skill and together with Ferdinand has become a formidable defending pair. You cannot but wonder where did Rio Ferdinand get his motivation from.
Vidic has made is very clear that he would not mind returning to United early in the case the pool will end in a tie.
Vidic told a reporter that he was very impressed with the defense of the team as they only gave away two goals in the first eight outings.
“Defensively we are strong and playing well and I think we can keep doing that, but we also know we have strikers who have the quality to score at the other end.”
