Is Wes Brown at the end of his career or is going to be relieved of his contract with Manchester United. Sir Alex has told media that they are yet to agree on a new deal with the Old Trafford club.
The defender’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season but Ferguson says Brown has rejected one offer already. Brown has joined United in 1996 as a trainee and signed professional papers four months later.
With the contract expiring he will be free to sign with other clubs and would even be allowed to sign a pre-contract agreement with a club outside the Premier League.
Ferguson said: “Nothing has been agreed and that’s entirely up to Wes.
“We’ve had several meetings with his agent and that is difficult as you can imagine – some agents are difficult.”
United would also be faced with the prospect of losing the player, who originally joined the club as a trainee, on a free transfer.
Ferguson the prospect of Brown not being at the club next season is getting closer to becoming a reality. Wes Brown has become the second choice as midfield defender since Vidic made a strong claim on the midfield position.
He said: “It’s a possibility and that would be a disappointment.
“He’s rejected one offer and we feel we’ve made him a good final offer and it really is up to him now. We won’t be going back.”
Although he has found opportunities to play in his favoured position of centre-back limited Brown has made over 270 appearances for United and is currently deputising for the injured Gary Neville at right-back.
Despite not being a first choice player at Old Trafford Brown is unlikely to be short of offers if he decides to leave the club.
Sorry, but this would be a good thing. We already have very good central defenders, a good mix of experience (Vida and Ferdinand) and youth (Evra, Pique, etc.). We need a replacement for right back. Neville’s sun is setting, Brown’s ok, but a true right back is needed. Honestly, he’s not United first team quality anymore with the youngsters we’ve brought in. Offload him and pick up a full out attacking right back.
Nice blog you have here.
Well structurated.
Good contents.
Keep on doing!
hi i ho ye win tommorrow i am a really big fan and fav player is critiano ronaldo.
I do not think that this will effect Manchester United at all Wes Brown has been at the club for years and has never been able to cement himself into the first eleven every week and has never made a huge impact on the club.
he is quality!
england international! and we want to let him go on a free its a joke!
better than that old injured man neville
A player who wants to be the highest paid figure in English football and is a bench player is quality? Please. Offload him for nothing and bring in a TRUE replacement for Neville.
Brown has evolved into a no nonsense tackler down the right flank this season. There are no 50-50 balls when it comes to Wes. In my opinion he is more agile than Gary Neville, although his crossing still needs to be improved a bit.
He will be sorely missed and Fergie needs to rethink his position. Brown is world class and provides cover for Vida and Rio. Pique will be great but he needs another season or two.
He provides an attacking option at set pieces as well. After 11 years of outstanding service you would think United would reward a player for his loyalty and dedication to the club where he grew up as part of the family.
Wes Brown is an absolute hero strong in the tacle never flinching, look at the injuries sustained for the cause. We need more like him .The annoying thing is he could earn more at another club but as we all know the only way is down once you leave utd.Perhaps his head has been tuned by the infated wages that Rio earns.Cant blame Rio for this right time right place and all that .C’mon Wes sign you know it makes sense!
