Will Wes Brown leave Manchester United after 16 years?

Wes Browns could and most likely will leave Manchester United this summer. He has been offered  £55,000 ($110,000 USD) a week but wants £65,000 ($130,000 USD).

Here is what Sir Alex had to say “We’ve given him his offer. It’s in his hands, not in ours. Players today live in their agents’ pockets. It’s a situation which depresses me at times. Wes has been with us since he was 12 but I don’t think that matters these days. Their agents live their lives for them — and if you are happy to go along with that then you get the situation you have just now.”

It sounds to me like the agent wants an extra $20k a week, and I don’t blame him, but at what expense? Wes has been with the club since he was 12 years old and Brown doesn’t seem to take it into consideration.
I think Brown went about this the wrong way. Wes and his agent made it about the money, and now they just look greedy. If Brown would have received Uniteds offer and said “Thank you, but I think its time for a change” We wouldn’t be talking about this right now.

But before you start criticizing Wes Brown’s values for not appreciating what United has done for him, or for not having any commitment to the club.
Is it any different when a club cuts or dismisses a player after a career ending injury?
