“Capello’s standards are just as high as Ferguson’s” – Wes Brown

Wes Brown believes working with Fabio Capello is just like playing for Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Manchester United defender has spent his entire club career hoping to catch Ferguson’s eye.
And now he has Capello to please as well following the Italian’s installation as England coach.
With John Terry sidelined, Brown is keen to land a defensive slot for Saturday’s World Cup qualifier with Kazakhstan at Wembley.
But he realises Capello’s standards are just as high as Ferguson’s, so he must perform if he is to keep his place.
“There are similarities between the two of them,” Brown told thefa.com.
“They both know what they are doing and relate that to the players.
“They are very in control of themselves and know what they want from their teams.
“They tell the players exactly what they want and from that the players get confidence, which is always a good start.
“With confidence you can go into big games and play very well.”
It may be a relative comment given he has scored on only five occasions in his entire career, but Brown is on something of a hot streak.
He broke his international duck in the August draw against the Czech Republic at Wembley and then bagged his first domestic goal of the campaign for United in Saturday’s win at Blackburn.
“Obviously I have not scored too many goals in my career, so it’s good to have a few in the last few months.
“It’s nice to get on the scoresheet and help out, although the fact I have got a couple in such a short space of time is more down to luck than anything else.
“Scoring against the Czech Republic was really big for me.
“It’s great to play for your country and to get a goal felt unbelievable.
“In a small way it helped towards what we are hoping is going to be a great period for England.”
