O’Shea will start in the final!

John O’Shea will be given a big reward for his contribution to United. Sir Alex has guaranteed John O’Shea a starting role in next week’s Champions League final.

“John takes his place in Rome because he deserves it,” said Ferguson.

“Because of the injuries to Gary Neville and Wes Brown, he has become a permanent fixture. He is ahead of everyone now.”

Obviously O’Shea will be playing on the right, and although I think he is a terrible player, I understand Rafael is too young to start such an important match. Rafael could very easily make an appearance late in the second half, but I agree with Sir Alex, he cant start. Thierry Henry would make United pay if they sent an 18-year-old out to try and stop him.

United nearly sign Henry!

United nearly signed ex-Gunner Thierry Henry! You read right, Manchester United nearly signed French striker Thierry Henry! And only because new Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola talked him out of it, did Henry not sign the reported £10million deal to bring him to Old Trafford.

The Sunday Mirror quotes a source as saying: “Thierry was told by the new coach he didn’t want him to leave, that he was going to be a big player for Barca next season and would have an important role to play for them…” “…That reassured Thierry – but United were ready to buy him.”

Thierry Henry, in a United shirt? Just the thought of it makes me sick. It was strange enough seeing him in a Barca shirt, it took a couple of months for my eyes to adjust. I cant even fathom the idea of him sitting next to Giggs and Scholes or being subbed on for Rooney!

Henry was and is a good player, but bringing him to United would be a mistake! Henry doesn’t care about United! He is another Nicolas Anelka, all they care about is Money! Compare Anelka’s reaction to Terry’s reaction after missing the PK in the Final! Anelka didn’t care, Terry felt it in his heart. United need players that are still hungry and passionate about the Beautiful Game! Players that have never tasted a domestic championship or Champions League Final!

Barcelona Missing a Few Players

Henry could miss 1st leg of Champions League Semi-final. Henry missed Mondays training due to illness. A fever has put the former Gunner in doubt for Wednesdays long anticipated Champions League clash between United and Barca. Only time will tell whether Henry will be fit for the 1st leg, set to take place at the Nou Camp. Also, Brazilian defensive midfielder, Jose Edmilson, will most likely miss Wednesdays match due to a back strain.

Carlos Puyol, Barcelona’s equivalent to Rio Ferdinand, will definitely miss the 1st leg as he serves his one match suspension.

Last year Ronaldinho would have been indispensable. If Ronaldinho missed a match or did not perform well, you could count Barcelona out. This season most Barca fans are glad to see the former FIFA world player of the year was left out of Rijkaard’s equation, due to “injury”.
